Child ID Project

CHILD IDENTIFICATION PROJECT

Upon request, the Berkshire County Sheriff’s Office will send deputies to organized community events and area schools.   The deputies assigned to that event take a photograph, retinal scan of the child’s eyes, and gather pertinent information related to the description of the child.   The parents are then presented with an ID card with the child’s information on it that the Sheriff’s Office provides free of charge.  The information collected is then submitted to a national database that law enforcement can utilize along with the ID card should a child “go missing”.
