Volunteer Opportunities

The Berkshire County Sheriff’s Office offers and encourages volunteer service in the Berkshire County Jail and House of Correction, to foster re-integration of offenders into the community and to augment existing programs.

Volunteer services are used primarily in the Programs and Treatment Department to assist staff members in the performance of their duties. Typical volunteer services include tutoring or assisting with faith-based and substance abuse programs.

Due to the nature of the programs, some volunteers may be former inmates. No ex-inmate is allowed to participate unless the volunteer has been free of incarceration, warrants or probation for a minimum of one year.

If you are interested in participating as a volunteer at the Berkshire County Jail and House of Correction, contact the Assistant Deputy Superintendent for Programs at the Berkshire County Sheriff’s Office, Jail and House of Correction, 413-443-7220, ext. 1403.
