Community Navigator (Second Street Second Chances)

Berkshire County Sheriff’s Office has an opening for a Community Navigator in the Second Street Second Chances program operating at 264 Second Street, Pittsfield, MA.

Duties, include, but are not limited to –

  • Encourage formerly incarcerated client’s to participate in reentry services,
  • Complete client intake and assessments,
  • Establish counseling relationships with clients,
  • Serve as a liaison between clients and community resources,
  • Providing transportation as needed,
  • Work collaboratively with other community agencies.

Qualifications –

  • Patient, open-minded individual passionate about helping others.
  • Must be able to work well both independently and as part of a team.
  • Excellent written and verbal skills with proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel
  • Strong organizational, time management and problem solving skills
  • Experience working with diverse populations.
  • Bachelor’s degree in criminal justice, social work or related field preferred.  Associate’s degree with a combination of training and experience will be considered.  Preference to candidates with at least 2 years of case management experience.   Bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred.

Salary – $53,138.50/year.  This is a grant funded position with MA State Employee benefits offered, including paid vacation, sick and personal leave; health, life, dental and vision insurance; deferred compensation plan, Commonwealth of MA State Retirement Plan.
